Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Lorna Tolentino led the 56th FAMAS awards last Saturday night at the Manila Hotel by winning the Best Actor and Best Actress awards, respectively for Katas ng Saudi.
Jinggoy and Lorna dedicated their awards to the late Rudy Fernandez.
Maryo J. de los Reyes, on the other hand, was named Best Director for Star Cinema’s A Love Story.
Irma Adlawan won Best Supporting Actress for Ataul for Rent while Mon Confiado was proclaimed Best Supporting Actor for Faces of Love.

The entertainment press waited patiently during the premiere night of One True Love last night, November 18, inside Cinema 9 of SM Megamall. The lead stars, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Iza Calzado arrived after 9 p.m. and proceeded to greet their respective fans who showed their support by bringing posters and banners of their idols.
Iza’s fans showed their creativity by spelling out her name using colorful LED lights and every time she had a scene, they would put up the glowing banner. They fans were so enthusiastic that they punctuated their idol’s lines with their screams and even their commentary.
Marian addressed the crowd by saying, “Good evening po! Nasaan na ang mga Marian Knights? Nasaan na ang mga Dongyanatics? Sana po i-enjoy ninyo ang movie namin, kikiligin kayo, promise!”
The campaign and ad promotions of One True Love goes overboard as the whole mechanism of promoting the movie touches a nerve from different angles. And another hit is the billing from top billed Stars such as Dingdong Dantes, Mariane Rivera, and Iza Calzado.
The nearer it will be shown on wide screens the uglier it gets. Maybe this is the wrath of Karylle on GMA’s demise on putting too much fire on her break up with Dingdong that even her own mother Zsa Zsa Padilla was too worried for her sake. Thus, this made her to decide that Karylle has to move to the other station.
Another point is the name of Iza Calzado should be magnanimous on Movie posters and stills but unfortunately no name is present and only her face is mark on the poster.

“One True Love” is the working title of the upcoming romantic movie topbilled by Marimar and Dyesebel love team, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. The movie, which was formerly called “Amnesia”, was supposed to be shown last August but due to some schedule problems with its stars, it was moved to a November 2008 playdate.
Iza Calzado is also starring in “One True Love”. It is a joint venture of GMA Films and Regal Films and to be helmed by Mac Alejandre, the director of Joaquin Bordado. Today is the first day of shooting of the said romantic movie.
There is a possibility that One True Love will clash with the Star Cinema movie “Land Down Under” starring Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin. In earlier reports, Piolo already made a statement that he is hoping their movie will not be pitted against “One True Love.”
